For anyone completely new to this (like I was a week ago), I've managed to get Xentry working for myself.
First off, took me a while to figure out what WIS, EPC, Xentry, Star, DAS etc are!
This is what I did:
First off, took me a while to figure out what WIS, EPC, Xentry, Star, DAS etc are!
- WIS: Workshop Information System
- DAS: Diagnosis Assistance System
- EPC: Electronic Parts Catalog
- Xentry: Mercedes official diagnostics software. I think there are others like Star
This is what I did:
- Bought OBD hardware: There are some cheap ones (openport) and some proper ones (C4?)
I got the supercheap Tactrix Openport 2 OBD reader. $15 on Aliexpressthis apparently doesn't work if your computer has EVER connected to the internet!
- Used an old 128gb ssd to do a fresh install of Win10 Pro on a laptop.
Set up using the media creation tool so I didn't need to connect to internet when installing windows
- Downloaded & installed XPT 2023.12.3 directly from Daimler website (on another computer and transfered using USB to this one)
- Got
[MHHAVTO registration required. HERE]
and followed instructions.
this is awesome work as it patches everything and gets the system ready to work! you don't need to know anything about patchingthere is a lot of software installed. the only one I needed to use was the "xentry diagnosis"
- plugged Tactix Openport into car OBD port, connected to laptop, ran Xentry and it works great!
